The Hokkaido Pottery Society was established in 1968 and is a gathering of professional potters active in Hokkaido.
We work to contribute to the creation and development of Hokkaido's ceramic culture through work presentations, lectures, technical and other information exchange, and ceramic art instruction throughout Hokkaido.
To commemorate our 55th anniversary this year, we will be holding an exhibition at Sapporo Art Park.

Related events include pottery making demonstrations and workshops by invited artists.

○Exhibited works
Works by potters from all over Hokkaido will be brought together. Works are also available for purchase.

Related project 1 Demonstration
Invited artists and Oregon potters will demonstrate pottery techniques.
Kazuya Ishida trained under Living National Treasure Atsushi Isesaki, a young Bizen potter, and then moved to England to study.

He will demonstrate his extraordinary techniques on the potter's wheel.

Related project 2 Workshop “Jomon pottery for both children and adults”
Experience the joy of making earthenware from scratch. Children up to 1st grade must be accompanied by an adult.
The firing is done using firewood in the Art Forest Square.

※Jomon is the name of an era that lasted about 10,000 years from about 13,000 years ago to about 2,300 years ago.
This time, we will be holding a workshop where we will recreate pottery from the Jomon period using the techniques of the time.

Date and time: November 3rd (Friday/Holiday) 10:00-13:30

*If canceled due to rain, etc., it will be postponed to Saturday, November 4th.
Venue: Sapporo Art Park, near the outdoor stage (in the hollow next to the second parking lot)

Related Project 3 Workshop “Mysterious Relief Technique – Shellac Resist”
Koichi Koyama has won awards at numerous public exhibitions, including the East Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and has published many books on pottery techniques.
The workshop will introduce the mysterious technique of "embossing with water without using a knife."

Participants will actually draw the artwork, then have it fired and handed over at a later date.
Date and time: Sunday, October 29th ①10:00-12:00 ②13:30-15:30

Related project 4 Gallery talk
Exhibiting artists will explain their works in an interactive manner.
