Based in Hokkaido, artist Aoi Michimata (b. 2000) has expressed the conflicts felt in engaging with society and the dissonance experienced in daily life through an allegorical style featuring multiple figures arranged on staircases. This exhibition presents woodblock prints, including new works, created around the theme of “relief,” focusing on the sense of security found in belonging to a community and the anxiety of remaining within it.
