OPENING HOURS
Open only for events such as concerts during the period of April 29 - November 3
Our summer hours start with the coming of spring. Cherry blossoms and magnolias bloom in spring, vibrant green comes in summer, and the changing colors of leaves can be seen in fall. In our large area, you can enjoy observing the sculptures in a different light each season, and you can also touch the bronze pieces. We recommend going on a nature walk or spreading out a mat for a picnic.
From January to March, Sapporo sculpture garden is temporarily closed, but free admission is available for the Snowshoe Walk. You can enjoy walking around Sapporo sculpture garden in the snow with snowshoes. The silver world of Sapporo sculpture garden in winter is a must-see that’s completely different from summer. The Sato Churyo Children's Atelier within the grounds is open all year, so we recommend it as a break spot.
The fascination of craftwork is highlighted through variou exhibitions and shops in the hall.
The residence of Takeo Arishima, a great writer with connections to Sapporo, was originally built in 1913 before being relocated and restored here. The building also features a cafe.
Churyo Sato was a leading Japanese sculptor who created figurative works featuring people around him. The atelier exhibits his heartwarming sculptures with family and children as motifs, and has a dedicated space for almost-daily workshops that can be enjoyed even by children.
This facility for hands-on activities enables visitors to easily try craftwork for themselves. Pottery, cloisonne, glassware and textile dying classes are held for individuals and groups. Full-scale craft classes are also run in the Wood Crafts Studio, Hand Weaving Studio and the Print Studio.
<Home craft experience>
The Craft Studio offers activities that even small children can participate in, with no reservation necessary. Try making postcards with colorful Japanese paper, or making a metal pin with any drawing you like.
Located in the center of Sapporo Art Park, here you will find a ticket sales counter(entrance) to the Sapporo Sculpture Garden, restaurant, and offices. There are tables and chairs available inside the facility, for dining or resting. The chuo bus stop is located directly in front of the building.
Music events and various events are held.
